Can't remove end caps anymore

I can no longer remove the end cap on the cylinder, nor take the cylinder off the wired endcap. I’m a little worried about trying to apply too much force, but wondering if this is a common problem. When I first ran the ROV I had trouble keeping the one end cap on, and now have the opposite problem.

The real reason I want to do it is so that I can rotate the cylinder. I have an unfortunate scuff right dead center to the camera.

Hello,

If you have not opened the main tube in a long time the grease and o-rings can set and be difficult to remove. The best way we have found is to get a small gap formed and work around the circumference of the endcap with a small flathead screw driver.

I hope this helps. If you continue to have issues I would urge you to post this on our Forum.

Thanks,

-Brian G.

use the acrylic cement applicator bottle, put some water-based personal lubricant like SHIBARI PERSONAL LUBRICANT inside, and wedge the really thin applicator needle that came with your acrylic cement between the endcap and the tube, then squeeze the lube through the needle and into the o-ring area. you should be able to pull it out.

Thanks Brian and Tamanya.

I got it open using an old (not super sharp) knife and wiggling the blade in, as per Brian’s suggestion with the flathead screwdriver ( I didn’t have any with a thin enough head).
