Confirm battery specs of european batteries

Hi all

As the batteries in the openrov.com store are rather expensive for shipping to europe, i checked for other batteries and i found the following possibilities for e.g. users in switzerland, germany, or austria:

This one

or

this one

In short, they have the following specs:

Type: LiFePo4

Capacity: 2300 to 2500 mAh

Rechargeable: yes

Voltage: 3.3V

Size: 26mm x 65mm

They have a slightly higher voltage (3.3V instead of 3.2V).

Can somebody confirm that this is not a problem, and the batteries should be safe to use with the openrov?

Thanks!

Hello,

If the specs that you have provided here are correct, then yes these should work. The ROV can operate with a range of battery voltages. I don't have the exact numbers on hand right now, but 9-14ish should be safe. 3 batteries in series at 3.3 would be 9.9V The capacity of these batteries is lower than the ones that we have on our store, so you will have shorter run times of the ROV.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. I would also encourage you to post your findings (run times and sources) on the forum in order to share with the community.

Hi Brian

Thanks for your answer. Yes the capacity is somewhat lower. For the record, I found yet another battery (this one) which has the same 3300mAh capacity and same specs.

I'll let you know about my findings. But first I have to build my OpenROV :-)

Thanks,

pat
